powerboating

the flagship of the studland watersports fleet

The RIB is the pride and joy of the operation. We use it to do everything from casual photo tours and wakeboarding lessons for complete beginners all the way up to full-throttle blasts around the bay and competition-speed slalom skiing, not to mention the ever popular banana rides.

It is an MCA commercially-coded, 5.8 metre Avon Adventure rigid-inflatable boat. It can hold six fully-grown people on a ski-session or powerboat ride and can tow eight people at once on a banana.

There are two fully-qualified waterski instructors that can teach anyone from the age of ten to waterski, wakeboard or kneeboard even with no prior experience. Intermediates and experts can push their boundaries and try new techniques. Up-to-date equipment is provided for all participants.

The powerboat rides are tailored to each individual group. We can make them as sedate or as exhilarating as you desire.

All RIB-related activities are available out of hours. Early morning or evening sessions are possible with advance booking. Please contact us for more details.

Small versions are available for children that inflate automatically upon contact with water. CE approved buoyancy aids will be issued to anyone being towed behind the boat on the banana or waterskiing/wakeboarding equipment. Wetsuits are available for an additional £2.00.
  • restrictions

The minimum age for waterskiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding is ten. Whilst there is no minimum age for the banana ride, there is a minimum height requirement of 1.4 metres.
  • safety

Helmets will be worn by everyone who takes part in a banana ride. CE approved ski vests will be worn by everyone waterskiing, wakeboarding or kneeboarding. During these activities, there are two trained members of staff in the boat at all times, one to drive and one to pay attention to the people being towed and call a stop to the ride if anyone falls in.
